Sixpoint 3BEANS

Finally got my hands on a 4 pack of this stuff yesterday and it definitely lives up to the hype.

Creamy and rich, bursting with coffee and chocolate.  Incredibly smooth for 10% abv., it's easy to get carried away with this one although I'm not sure I'd want more than 1 or 2 per sitting given how rich it is.  I'd rank this right up there with Founder's Breakfast Stout, yeah it's that good.

Run out and get some before it's gone as it's a limited release.

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

One of my winter favorites, per their website... our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style, once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specially roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Pours a dark jet black, at 10% abv this one is a sipper.  The first taste is strong with roasted coffee notes and of course plenty of dark chocolate.  The alcohol is there but it doesn't overpower.  I think of this as almost a dessert beer, one to kick back with and really take your time enjoying it... as it warms up the flavors become even more intense!  Pick this one up if you're a fan of Russian Imperial Stouts.  Better hurry as this is a seasonal release and won't be on the shelves for too much longer.

Cheers

Saratoga Lager

Let's start this blog off with a beer that's brewed in my backyard.

According to their website... Saratoga Lager is brewed in the grand tradition of the Vienna Lagers of Austria and Marzenbiers of Munich, Saratoga Lager is a smooth, medium bodied lager with a pale copper color and a rich aroma.  German hops and Munich malt impart an intriguing balance between light, soft bitterness and a refreshing sweetness.

It's not difficult to find this beer on draft in the Saratoga area and most grocery stores keep it in stock.  If you like a malty beer this is your style.  A slight hint of sweetness and caramel to it too.  Goes well with a burger or hearty sandwich.

Be sure to stop by the brewery at 131 Excelsior Ave and check out the tasting room.  They have a growler club, buy 5 and get the 6th fill for free!  While you're there head down the road just a bit and pay a visit to one of the best beverage centers in the area, Eddy's Beverage Inc.  I'll be posting more about this little slice of beer heaven later on.

Cheers
